Dr. J. R. Garcés
With over 30 years of experience in the field of Medical and Surgical Dermatology,J. R. Garcés, MD PhD, is a specialist in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer.
Dr. J. R. Garcés is currently one of the few surgical dermatologists who have practiced more than 2,000 Mohs surgical interventions, a procedure which presently offers the highest cure rates for cutaneous tumors. Trained as a Doctor in Medicine and Surgery and specializing in Medical and Surgical Dermatology at the University of Barcelona, Dr. J. R. Garcés is also Clinical Chief of the Dermatology Service at Hospital Sant Pau and Head of the Department of Cutaneous Surgical Oncology, Photodynamic Therapy and the Mohs Surgery Unit, a position which enables him to stay informed of all the latest scientific developments in dermatologic surgery and skin cancer.
In addition, he directs the Institut de Fotomedicina at the Centro Médico Teknon, which uses the latest cutaneous laser technology on the market, and he is a member of the International Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ISDS) and the Spanish Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (AEDV), among others.
Dr. Garcés is the author of Cuando calienta el sol (When the Sun Gets Hot), an educational book about the effects of the sun on the skin and the healthy way to get a tan.
