Although it is more frequent in tropical countries, it was first detected in Europe in 2003 and generally appears in men who have sexual relations with other men. The disease is caused by a bacterium called Chlamydia trachomatis subtype L1-L3.<\/p>\n<p>A person who is infected with lymphogranuloma venereum may not present symptoms.
